San Diego Wrapup

I realized I never posted while in San Diego and while other outlets (mainly theracquetballblog and the SRA) were able to get results and disseminate them, it really shouldn't be that hard for me to throw out a post or two. I'm hoping I can use this as a kick to my own a## to keep things going...

I'll keep this relatively brief, as the results are already out there for the most part and I'm planning a longer post to put up later tonight... The big winner from Canada was obviously Colin Mohr. Looking at the draw it was obvious he and provincial rival James Landeryou would have a good opportunity to end up against each other in the rd of 32, ensuring that one of them would make it through to the main draw.

Both playing fairly solid, were able to stave off attacks from up and comers Brad Schopieray and Arthur Schmeiser respectively before facing off against each other in the final round of qualifying. The match would unfortunately see Jamie play a notch or 2 below his A game and while Colin didn't play amazing, he was focused throughout the match and used the few luck breaks he received to claim victory.

A semifinal berth in the open doubles was not much consolation for Jamie, especially since there was no payout until the final! But such is life. It was a fun trip and good motivation for me to train hard for the upcoming Pan Am Championship tournament in Temuco, Chile!
